Is there water in the machine?
If so, the door won’t open as a safety measure. You’ll need to drain the water away to see if it solves the problem. If there is no emergency drain-down facility on your washing machine, turn it off at the mains and drop the drain hose into a basin or bath. Gravity will take care of the rest, but have some old towels to hand for any spillages.
Turn the mains power supply off and leave for a few minutes, then try the door again.
The catch mechanism or interlock might be faulty. If you’re a confident home repairer, turn machine off at mains. You may be able to release the door by manipulating the interlock or catch, but don’t force the door or you will cause worse damage.
