Washing machine not draining?
Here’s our troubleshooting checklist:
- Check if something is stuck in the pump, this is the primary cause of washing machines not draining. Commonly anything that be put in a pocket or collected in a pile of laundry can end up in your pump so we recommend you check your pump filter. First you need to drain the water away or you’ll flood the floor.
- To drain your washing machine, have a basin and some old towels to hand. Turn off mains power. Locate the grey corrugated drain hose at the back of the washing machine and bring it down to the basin at floor level. Your basin need to be at a low level to allow gravity to draw the water from the appliance.
- Draining your washing machine can be messy, we only recommend undertaking this if you are confident that you can do this without damaging your kitchen floor. Also the machine will be heavy and you will need to access the back of the appliance and have room for the basin.
Washing machine not filling with water?
- This is often due to a kink in the hose, a faulty tap or faults in the wiring or pressure system. Has the tap been switched off accidentally? Most washing machines now have an error code, so check your manual. if you don’t have access to your manual you may be able to find it here.
